Description

Wooden box containing ten BLRA Colour Discs, each a standard colour of off-white. (British Launderer's Research Association).

Instructions within the lid show how the discs are used to compare the whiteness of washed cloth, circa 1955. The Association, which was formed in 1921, early commenced a systematic investigation of each section of the laundry process. It instituted methods of measuring colour and observing the efficiency of cleansing on washed articles.
