Miniature shale composition brick embossed "SOL" made at Scottish Oils Ltd brickworks at Pumpherston as a trade sample or promotional item, circa 1950
"SOL bricks" were first produced at Pumpherston Brickworks c.1934. Using a mixture of lime and spent shale. The bricks were in great demand in the post-war area for both domestic and industrial building projects
