Framed engravings such as this were produced as souvenirs and were probably distributed to clients and supporters of James Young and his business. The engravings were produced by Annan & Sons, and despite the images of James Young being approximately 20 years apart, they appear to have be produced at the same time, possibly posthumously, because the signatures are the same.
