Description
Micromate 304 portable screening audiometer manufactured by Madsen Electronics Serial number 34250.
Comprising instrument, headset, patient signal, power adapter, instruction manual, 4 audiogram pads, 2 certificates of calibration issued 16 July 1991 and 30 November 1997, delivery note, 2 business cards and soft blue fabric carrying case. Serial number 34250. The use of audiometers were part of a scheme to provide free hearing tests to retired or redundant workers in order to claim compensation for industrial deafness. Miners Welfare Clubs were visited on a regular basis as well as those employed in British Leyland, Plessey and other noisy industries. This specific instrument originally belonged to the Fife Industrial Health Group before being given to the Workers Benefit Advice Project in Bathgate
