Certificate from The Lanarkshire Coalmasters' Association to certify that James Paterson, Park Terrace, Kirkhill Park, Broxburn has undergone a Course of Training and Practice at the Lanarkshire Coalmasters' Rescue Station. This was issued on 12th June 1922.
This course of Training and Practice, approved by the Secretary of State for Home Affairs, as being in conformity with the requirements of the General Regulations of 19th May, 1914, made under the Coal Mines Act, 1911. Signed by Robert Baird, Secretary and William Withers, Instructor. Issued on 12th June 1922.
Owned by James Paterson, the donor's grandfather, from Broxburn, who was a Fireman and member of the Mine Rescue Team. He latterly worked at the Roman Camp mines.
