Description

Paraffin lamp manufactured at the Mandal Factory in Norway. The base is filled with sand from the beach close to the factory. Production took place around 1870.

The lamp was bought from the collector Gjert Kristiansen, Mandal, who also renovated the lamp and prepared it as a donation for the museum. The supporters who donated money to allow the lamp to be purchased and donated to the museum were Møll Turbuss (tour operator), Lindesnes Avis (local newspaper) and Sparebanken SøR, Mandal (local savings bank).
